2018 Oklahoma Engineering Design Competition

Oklahoma

MADE POSSIBLE BY A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THESE ORGANIZATIONS:

A statewide competition for Oklahoma students enrolled in the PLTW Capstone Course - "Engineering Design and Development"

Description

What is the Oklahoma Engineering Design Competition?

The 2018 Oklahoma Engineering Design Competition is an opportunity administered by Oklahoma State University College of Engineering, Architecture, & Technology (CEAT), for those currently enrolled in a Project Lead The Way capstone course, “Engineering Design and Development” (EDD).  The competition is designed to recognize and reward outstanding student projects and highlight the importance of engineering design and problem solving in STEM education.

Once a portfolio is built and submitted on the Innovation Portal, the portfolios will be reviewed by a jury of professionals (judges) using the same rubric embedded in the portal, the “Engineering Design Process Portfolio Scoring Rubric (EDPPSR)". Participating in the competition will enable students to achieve a level of recognition that will aid them in gaining scholarships and/or advanced standing as they pursue post-secondary educational opportunities. (See details under Why participate?) All participating teams and/or individuals will receive a letter of recognition for submitting their EDD capstone project to this review competition. All projects will remain the intellectual property of the individual/team; however the administrator requires permission to develop and distribute the story behind the top three submissions.

There is no registration or competition entry fee. This is a free educational competition.

Why participate in the Oklahoma Engineering Design Competition?

  1. competition gives students the opportunity to build a robust portfolio around their capstone design project and earn recognition for that work. Students have the opportunity to collaborate with team members and a faculty advisor as well as interface with professionals in various engineering fields.
